Patrick Lysobey, CPA
Tax Manager
Patrick is a recent addition to the Hobe & Lucas team. His twenty-four years of experience in the accounting and tax fields allow him to provide clients with expert services in individual tax return review and preparation, related tax research and planning, partnership taxation with specialization in real estate tax issues and international taxation for individuals, including expatriates and non-resident aliens. Patrick brings special emphasis to partnership and corporation taxation and multistate taxation. The highlights of Patrick’s career include the successful representation of several high-profile athletes in state residency tax audits and their successful resolution through negotiated settlements. The inspiration to enter the accounting field came for Patrick in a high school bookkeeping class, and set him on a course for a distinguished career. Patrick is a Cum Laude graduate of Cleveland State University, and he continues to take continuing professional education courses annually to enhance his professional expertise. Patrick is a member of the AICPA and the Ohio Society of CPA’s. He also serves as Treasurer for the North Royalton Republican Club, and is a member of the St. Albert Holy Name Society, cooperator of OPUS DEI. Patrick and his wife, Margaret, live in North Royalton, Ohio with their six children. He enjoys playing volleyball in his spare time.
Robert Casmer, CPA
Manager
Robert Casmer has been part of the Hobe & Lucas team since January of 1999, and has been in the accounting profession for fifthteen years. He brings a diverse and general knowledge of the industry to the organization and focuses on developing, managing and maintaining relationships with a large group of various client entities and individuals in a number of industries and fields. Robert’s enjoyment in working with numbers and with people led him to the accounting business and prior to joining our team, he spent five years with KPMG Peat Marwick, and another five years as Controller/CFO with North Point Realty, garnering Big 8 Accounting Firm experience and a wealth of knowledge as a corporate officer. Robert is a Cum Laude graduate of Cleveland State University, and continues to study Sec. 1031 transactions in real estate and pass-through entity investing, entity structuring and start-up. Robert is a member of the AICPA and OSCPA, and serves as Treasurer for the Cuyahoga Heights Alumni Association. He is an active bowler, an amateur guitar player, enjoys reading and card collecting, treasure hunting, antiques and comic books. Robert lives in Parma, Ohio and has three children.
Lisa Matuszny, CPA
Manager
Lisa is a twelve-year member of the Hobe & Lucas team. She started with the company in January of 1992 as a Staff Accountant, was promoted to Senior Accountant and currently is a Manager – a supervisory role in which she oversees other senior accountants. Lisa has spent her entire accounting career with Hobe & Lucas, and is very dedicated to both the company and to her clients. Her specialties lie in the traditional accounting and audit practices for the manufacturing industry, medical practices, not-for-profit organizations and insurance, mortgage, and title companies. Her strengths are her attention to client needs, her technical expertise and her capacity as a resource for all Hobe & Lucas business needs. Lisa’s desire to become a CPA stemmed from the reputation of the industry overall and the general respect that it receives as a business profession. Lisa is a member of the AICPA and the OSCPA. She is an active alumni in Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and a member of the Cleveland Professional 20/30 club. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Akron. She resides in Parma, Ohio and enjoys traveling, bike riding and reading.
Donald M. Gromen, CPA, CVA
Manager
Don joined Hobe & Lucas in December of 2000 and brings more than thirty years experience in the field of accounting and management consulting and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. Don's years as a small business owner lend him a unique perspective that enables him to closely relate to his clients and to act on their behalf. Don graduated from Bowling Green State University, and after a decade in an industrial enviroment, he elected to changed careeres and acquired his CPA license. He is a member of the AICPA , Ohio Society of CPA’s, and NAVCA.
John Foster, CPA
Senior Accountant
John joined Hobe & Lucas six years ago and has twelve years accounting experience. He specializes in Circular A 133 Government Audits and is also trained in Quickbooks. John is a member of the OSCPA and a graduate of Grove City College. He and his wife, Lynn, reside in Medina, Ohio. John is active in his church, plays softball and enjoys golf.
David Baldoza, CPA
Senior Accountant
Dave has been with Hobe & Lucas for five years and has nearly a decade of accounting and tax experience. He provides management and analysis services for clients, as well as performing tax and financial planning, closely-held and SEC company audits, and business development activities. His specialties include company start-up issues and consulting, real estate taxation and transaction management and SEC audits. Dave’s clients include medical practices, construction, manufacturing, not-for-profit and real estate accounts. He finds accounting a rewarding profession because it enables him to play a significant role in his clients’ business growth, their personal wealth accumulation and preservation, and minimization of their tax expenses. Dave is Tax Committee Chairman for the Cleveland chapter of the OSCPA. He is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College.
Brian Davis, CPA
Senior Accountant
Brian began his career in accounting as a Staff Accountant with Hobe & Lucas eight years ago. Four years later, he was promoted to Senior Accountant. He specializes in retirement plan audits, employee benefit plans, construction accounting and accounting for the manufacturing industry. Brian finds his work as an accountant rewarding because of the many facets involved in the field and the ever-changing environment keeps it interesting. Brian holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Cleveland State University, and continues to study professionally in the area of retirement plan administration. Brian is a member of the AICPA and OSCPA, and resides in Parma, Ohio.
Debbie Britten, CPA
Part-Time Manager
Debbie brings twenty-five years of accounting experience to Hobe & Lucas. She joined the firm in 1988 for tax season only, and became a permanent, part-time staff member in 1997. Debbie's primary focus is state and federal tax return preparation for clients in the health care industry. Her special skills include a thorough knowledge of Quick Books and a wealth of health care accounting experience. For Debbie, accounting holds the right mix of numbers and interaction with a variety of people on a daily basis. Debbie is a member of the OSCPA, and holds both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Cleveland State University. She and her husband, Charles, reside in North Royalton with their three children. Debbie is a member of the St. Albert Choir, and enjoys watching her daughters play softball, basketball and soccer, and run cross country.
Marilyn Beitl, CPA
Part-Time CPA
Marilyn joined Hobe & Lucas during the 1987 tax season, and became a permanent, part-time associate several years later. With over twenty years of experience in the field, Marilyn works to help her clients solve accounting problems and issues with taxing agencies. Her duties include tax return preparation, review, and compilations. She continues to study tax applications to provide advanced levels of service to her clients. Marilyn chose the field of accounting based on affinity for working with numbers, a desire to work with people, and the stable career opportunities that it provides. She has divided her time between careers as a CPA and full-time mom to her two children. Marilyn is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace college and a member of the OSCPA. She resides in Strongsville with her husband, Ken, and she enjoys reading, decorating, HGTV and reality television, including Survivor!
Louis V. Loparo
IT Manager and Accounting sysytem's consultant Louis has been with Hobe & Lucas since October of 1998. Louis came right out of Kent State University with a degree in Accounting and joined Hobe & Lucas. With his strong background in Information Systems he splits his time between roles as an Accountant, Network Administrator and Computer Consultant. He is a Quick Books certified pro advisor and has a background in many other software programs including Peachtree, Mas 90, Black Baud and Crystal Reports. Louis enjoys being able to offer clients a large array of services. He is a member of the AICPA and OSCPA, and resides in Euclid, Ohio.
